LET FREEDOM SWING

Produced by Jazz at Lincoln Center and Jazz Institute of Chicago

Where music meets history — right in your classroom.
Let Freedom Swing brings dynamic jazz performances to Title I elementary schools across Chicagoland, using music to teach powerful lessons about democracy, migration, and civil rights. Presented in partnership with Jazz at Lincoln Center, these concerts feature acclaimed jazz artists who engage young audiences through storytelling, performance, and cultural connection — often introducing students to jazz for the very first time.

Concert themes include Jazz and DemocracyJazz and the Great Migration, and Jazz and Civil Rights — inspired by conversations between Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and Wynton Marsalis. It’s an unforgettable way to explore the roots of America through its original art form.

Let Freedom Swing is free for participating schools. Applications open in the fall and spring.
