Ernest Dawkins composed this piece to mark the anniversary of Till's murder in 1955. IT comes home now, to be performed in the neighborhood where Emmett Till grew up. A powerfully told story that is uplifting both musically and spiritually, it features Dee Alexander as Mamie Till and Khari B. who wrote and performs the lines.
The band will feature vocalist Dee Alexander and spoken word artist Khari B., saxophonists Aaron Getsug and Kevin Nabors, trombonist Norman Palm, trumpeter Larry Bowen, pianist Justin Dillard, bassists Josh Abrams and Harrison Bankhead, drummers Isaiah Spencer and Hamid Drake, and Ernest Dawkins on alto saxophone and conducting.
