The Chicago Park District’s Austin Town Hall Park, 5610 W. Lake St., is among 10 nation-wide worthy community houses selected to potentially receive the makeover of a lifetime through renovation projects of up to $50,000.  The program, “Drops of Good”, is sponsored by Maxwell House coffee a Kraft Foods Company and Rebuilding Together, a leading nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable home ownership and revitalize neighborhoods by providing extensive rehabilitation.
 
With more than 43 million Americans living below the poverty line (*U.S. Census Bureau statistic), community centers have increasingly become the heart and soul of our neighborhoods.

You can vote now through June 17, 2011.  Later in June, Maxwell House will announce the five community houses selected by America to receive the major renovations.
