I've been in Chicago for about 2 and a half years since graduating college. I've spent most of that time checking out the rock, electronica and hip-hop scenes. Of late, I've been trying to get into the jazz scene but the few places I check out where not entirely mind-blowing or impressive. I've been to New York and checked out the jazz scene over there which seems to be way more lively, engrossing and innovative. Then again, that might only be because I know New York better than I do the Chi. I know there are some major jazzheads out there who would have the scoop on the Chi's scene so please suggest some spots and what seperates them from other places in terms of the acts, ambience and the crowd - all things that constitute a dope dig.
