Two days ago, Brazilian singer/songwriter Dorival Caymmi passed away due to a multiple organ failure. I had never heard of him till recently. Apparently, he is one of the founders of bossa nova and Brazilian popular music. With a 60 year career and 20 albums, he has influenced other significant artists of the medium such as Antonio Carlos Jobim, Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso. He penned hits such as "What Is It About Brazilian Women?," "Samba of My Land" and "Marina." Which of his albums would jazz afficionados recommend to the uninitiated?
