Judy Roberts: Circle of Friends
Judy Roberts is a Chicago treasure. She plays great piano, has an innovative approach to singing and has the charisma that everyone enjoys and wishes they had some too. Judy's consistently draws listeners to her gigs; it seems that there is no end to Judy's energy. A friend of mine once told me that if Judy gets on a bus, the bus would fill with friends and fans!
Circle of Friends is a definitive recording featuring her long standing band of Greg Fishman (sax and flute), Stewart Miller (bass) and Greg Sergo (drums). The repertoire covers jazz standards (Scrapple from the Apple and Centerpiece); standards that need to heard more often (How About You, Comes Love and Twilight World); Dave Frishberg's cabaret tune My Attorney Bernie; and, some of the finest new Brazilian tunes (Common Ground, So Many Stars and Love Dance). You can hear Judy nearly every night of any given week in Chicago. After you hear this CD you'll realize that this is one of those albums that you take with you whenever you leave Chicago for the open road.
